A Time to Find the Balance

Every seeker’s journey has two broad phases.

The first phase is that of self-improvement, which plays out in the field of the seeker’s efforts. It is driven by a clear methodical approach, where every action has a predictable outcome. You meditate, and you feel peaceful. You introspect, and you begin to see your shortcomings. You follow your Guru’s guidance, and your inner virtues begin to blossom. Every effort (cause) in this phase has a built-in effect.

But the next phase – self-realisation – is beyond the reach of any methodical, cause-and-effect approach. It unfolds in the mystical field of Devi’s grace. In this realm, the effects are pre-determined, and the Universe quietly conspires to sow the seeds of causes along your path. You might experience these seeds as an intuitive feeling, a sudden thought, or an unexpected turn of events that guide you towards the sacred union. Logic has no place here, as there’s no way to predict who deserves such divine intervention.

Following a method with no access to the mystical is like running in circles. At the same time, waiting for the mystical without any method is like hoping for an impossible miracle. As Navratri approaches, Devi’s energies are gradually descending. And this is a blessed time to find the perfect balance – a time to enter into a method that leads to the mystical.
